It can be breathtakingly beautiful, inspirational, fearsome, servile, awesome and complex. We communicate with it practically every minute of our waking lives. We rely on its power … it is the very foundation of our lives: something we should never underestimate. It can impart our feelings, emotions, needs, likes/dislikes, love/hate. We can gain or lose through it. We can separate good from bad .It can aid in our victory or be a part of our downfall.

IT IS THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE!

I have been actively imparting these qualities for many years as an English teacher to the thousands of students who have sat in my classes. I have endeavoured to teach my students at all times how important it is to use our language effectively, to bathe in it, listen to it, read it and use it in an oral sense in order to live a more fruitful life. It is there for the taking, whenever we need it. It requires no payment, asks nothing of us in return.

As a practising English teacher of several years, I encouraged my students regularly to devote the back pages of their journals to exploring this magnificent language. That famous quote, “The pen is mightier than the sword” was written at the top of two columns. I would explain to them that, through the power of our language, one can easily disarm one’s enemies much more effectively, rather than using violence or force. I encouraged them to foster an interest in new words by noting them down in one column and locating their definitions in the second column. I was teaching not only the potency of our language, but also its beauty. I have always hoped that each of them has taken away from the classroom a love of English.

It is this respect and admiration for English that I bring to The Writing House. But I must be objective: not everybody loves English as much as I do. We all use it on a daily basis but most would rarely have the time (or inclination!) to stop momentarily and wonder if “I have used the right word just then!”; “did I really say it as I’d hoped I would?”; “why is that first paragraph not looking right?”; “my sales brochure is not telling my clients what it should be telling them”…

That is why I offer the many services available at The Writing House .I love using this wonderful tool throughout my day, and would feel privileged to offer my services to you. Please CONTACT US to find out about our many excellent services.
